Job Description Summary

The DOWTY Propeller Production Supervisor will report into the Operations Manager for the Brisbane Workshop. Your job will be to ensure highly effective support of DOWTY Propellers’ customers, which will be accomplished by personally conducting maintenance tasks and by leading a team of 6-10 members, in conducting industry’s best practice repair and overhauls.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform Brisbane on-site DOWTY Propeller Systems maintenance inclusive of repairs, modifications, installation, and preventative maintenance.
  • Lead and facilitate a productive and rewarding team (6-10 members) culture ensuring a safe and high quality output by the maintenance team.
  • Perform administrative duties such as leading team meetings, writing technical reports, coordinate the ordering of materials and consumables, supporting quotations, and identify / implement cost avoidance actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable product line and aftermarket contractual obligations.
  • Train and develop team’s capabilities and personal development.
  • Ensure the efficient flow of work through the Brisbane workshop to meet required delivery and quality metrics.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of, and adhere to, the Site Quality, Safety Management and EH&S policies and other compliance requirements. Comply with International Trade regulations aligned to GE requirements.
  • Support Sales with initial new customer enquiries
  • Provide ‘Out of Hours’ support as required.
  • Other duties as and when required.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills – Mechanical, in accordance with the National Aeroskills Training Package (MEA 97) or equivalent as demonstrated through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience in the maintenance and repair of propellers in a workshop environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and contribute to the output of a professional maintenance team to achieve outcomes within a defined time frame. 
  • A track record of delivering high level customer service.
  • Proven manual dexterity to carry out a range of hand skills such as sanding, shaping assembly and disassembly.
  • A track record of applying healthy, safe and compliant work practices.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to prepare technical reports and effectively liaise with customers.
  • Ability to use initiative and solve problems.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Possession of a current driver’s license
  • Sound understanding of civil and military regulation and quality requirements.
  • DOWTY propeller repair experience
  • Certificate IV Trainer & Assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach subordinates and  peers including less experienced technical staff.
  • Understanding of LEAN and 5S principles and implications.
  • Literate in the use of Microsoft Office packages and ability to learn internal computer systems.
