Job Description

Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development and support of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies, products, and services in support of the goals and objectives of The Boeing Company.
BIETC has an opening for a Quality Systems Specialist reporting to the MD of BIETC, and located in Bangalore, India.  Specific expectations of this position are listed below:
Position Description
  • Provides Quality Leadership for the Engineering & Technology activities within BIETC and ensures a culture of quality, achieves and maintains relevant certifications (e.g., AS 9100 and CMMI), and ensures first time quality for all products and services.
  • Works directly with the BIETC leadership team, program/project managers across BIETC, and other Boeing global stakeholders to establish a robust Quality Management System (QMS) for BIETC.
  • Develops project / operational plans aligned to BIETC’s quality objectives. Develops and administers quality processes and systems, and activities to ensure program/contract, company, customer/government, regulatory requirements, international standards, and working agreements are deployed in support of an effective and efficient quality system.
  • Executes the plans taking assistance from other employees, peers and managers.  Reviews execution status, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Actively leads quality certification, organizes and supports audit activities (including preparing quality related documentation and reports) and collaborates with other Boeing quality focals and external consultants to successfully achieve quality certification objectives of the organization within stipulated timeframe. 
  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by conducting quality assessments/audits,  gathering information to monitor appropriate quality metrics, performing analysis to identify quality issues, providing feedback to appropriate stakeholders, preparing and implementing action plans to resolve problems and address risks, issues, and opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Forecasts resource needs, and obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet operating requirements. Works with BIETC Leadership Team, and senior managers to acquire, deploy and schedule personnel to meet project and operational objectives. Reviews, recommends and implements facility, equipment and service plans to maximize productivity and ensure safety, security, environmental and regulatory compliance. Coordinates with providers to ensure work statement is completed on schedule and budget.
  • Prepares and conveys organizational messages to enable accomplishment of quality goals. Provides education, training and coaching on the Quality System. Proactively communicates with employees, peers (e.g., first-level managers) and customers. Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions. Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations.
  • Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative interpersonal working relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Manages, develops and motivates employees.  Develops relationships and works with quality experts from various Boeing business units to ensure that their expectations are being met by the quality system deployed at BIETC.
  • This position will also provide periodic updates to senior management on the status of the quality program, and specific actions needed to achieve the quality strategy for BIETC.
  • This position will support initiatives of BIETC related to employee development, customer engagement, strategic relations, Government interactions, etc.
  • This position will require some travel within India and internationally.
Skill & Requirement
  • Advanced/expert knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, Aerospace Standard (AS9100) and CMMI.
  • Experience leading quality audit and certification processes within global organizations focused on Engineering & Technology activities.  Candidates who have successfully established or managed a Quality Management System in a previous organization will be preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of quality related metrics and processes for hardware and software products.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products and locations across different cultures and time-zones, and working with external partners.
  • Skilled in advising and mentoring staff members to meet quality goals in the context of technical or operational challenges.
  • Ability to understand and communicate with technical experts over a wide range of technical topics.
  • Strong project management skills to translate strategy into actions and follow through to achieving results.
  • Ability to accomplish results through employees who may not be direct reports.
  • Teamwork is important in this position; individual must have strong teambuilding skills, and demonstrated record of working with stakeholders in multiple international time zones.
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and leverage it to address complex issues.
  • Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and ability to persuade others to follow the organizational goals and objectives.  Candidate must be fluent in English, and have high level of expertise in using MS Office tools. 
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment. 
  • Must be able to mentor team members and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of aviation industry is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience with at least 8 years as a Quality leader/specialist.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering is required and Master’s degree is preferred. Experience in leading a group of quality experts is a must.
  • Candidates with experience in Aviation domain will be highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a global organization is preferred.
